Our Statement of Faith
As a new church, Genesis is a new group of people from all walks of life meeting together for the first time. While some individuals come from Baptist, Nazarene, Assembly of God, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Brethren and Catholic backgrounds, Genesis is not formally connected to a particular denomination. In addition, many people at Genesis have no former religious background. Genesis is focused on the Bible and serving the Marion area. Therefore, Genesis is more of a “community” church rather than a “denominational” one.
Keith Irey, Lead Pastor
Our Lead Pastor Keith Irey is a “people person.” Originally from Marion, Keith and his wife Kathy (Eskins) have previously pastored in Colorado and Missouri before retuning home to Marion. His education includes an A.A. biblical studies, B.A. in religion and a Master of Divinity degree. Kathy also attended Bible College and holds A.A. and B.A degrees in Business Administration. She is a graduate of Breakthrough Biblical Counseling and also a valued part of our leadership. Keith and Kathy work at Marion General Hospital. Currently Keith works as the chaplain for Marion General Hospice and Kathy as the assistant to the director of HR.
They were married in 1986 and are the proud parents of Kristian born in 1992 and Kaleb born in 1997.
When you visit Genesis, you will find Keith to be a dynamic, biblical speaker. His enthusiasm for life and God are contagious. Both he and his wife have a practical, easy to follow, teaching style that focuses on how the Bible can help us in every day life. If it’s your first visit, or one of many, they will make you feel a welcomed part of Genesis.

Lisa and her family have a passion for children and their walk with God. A self-described “kid at heart”, Lisa has the ability to get kids attention in a positive, energetic fashion.
